Investing in Shares

One of the most popular ways of share investment is via a Managed Fund. However, for some people the better alternative is to invest directly in Australian or International shares. With direct share investment comes the challenge of selecting the shares that are right for you.

No matter what the investment vehicle (Superannuation Fund, Company, Trust, Individual), our team can help you start your share portfolio. It need not be daunting – we can clearly explain to you how to minimise the risks associated with share investment and how to get the best returns.

We can guide you through the workings of a negatively (or positively) geared portfolio. It doesn't take a lot of money to get your portfolio started – you just need to confidence to take the first step. Confidence comes with guidance & knowledge and that’s where we can help. Let us work out an investment strategy for you.

Not only can we give you advice about the shares to invest in, but we also have a close working relationship with a Broker. Therefore, we can buy or sell your shares for you at competitive rates and even look after the administration of your portfolio – from tax planning though to filling out forms.

The benefits of investing in Australian Shares is potentially two fold –

  1. Regular income in the form of dividends. If the company has already paid tax on the profits it is distributing back to shareholders, you will receive imputation credits equivalent to the tax already paid. Imputation credits are taken up in your income tax return offset taxation payable on the dividends. It is worth noting that even if you are not required to lodge an income tax return, you can still claim the imputation credits and receive a refund of them.
  2. Potential capital growth. The value of shares generally goes up over time. You can of course also face a capital loss which can be offset in your income tax return against any capital gains – this is one of the risks of share investment, but one that can be managed.

Does your investment portfolio need diversification? Are you unhappy with your return on investment?
